We had a picnic with great comics

We consider it important to build a close relationship between guide dog owners and thevolunteers of our foundation. The summer and autumn picnics went so well that everyone is looking forward to the meetings. The joint occasions also allow the puppy raisers to see how much help the dogs raised by them give to their visually impaired owners. To our greatest pleasure, everyone had a great time at the summer picnic in Miskolc.

Like last year, we took the Lillafüred forest train to the Garadna terminus and then continued our journey on foot. As is usual on our trips, there was a sighted helper next to each of our clients so that the guide dogs could run freely in the forest.

The dogs get the experience of freedom from their owners in the dog parks, and in the meadows, but it surpasses everything when ten, twenty, or even more of them run and play together.

Once we arrived at the picnic spot, the goodies came out. The introduction round is always interesting, as our team is constantly expanding, and more volunteers and clients have joined us since last year’s picnic.

We have a lot of funny scenes thanks to our dogs, this time there was bathing in the spring, wading in a stream, and chasing each other. Meanwhile, we had time to talk and get to know each other, because many of our team members live hundreds of kilometers from each other. Laughter brought the group together the best, and the big comics fell into a deep sleep lying next to their owners on the train home.

The dot is put on the „i”

At the picnic, the puppies brought great joy to the puppy raisers and trainers. Atom’s puppy raiser, László Varga, met the pair of Miklós Bíró and Atom, who had already passed the exam, and Emese Királyné Barkóczi met several of her trained dogs.

Andrea Sápi has already raised 9 puppies for our foundation:

“Towards the end of raising a puppy, we often think about what kind of owner our puppy will have, and who he/she will help. Would you like to get to know us, will we keep in touch? Well, the past period exceeded all our expectations. The Miskolc picnic put the dot on the „i”. We were able to meet Müzlike and the boys: the beautiful Rizling and the always enthusiastic Zenit. Of course, Fidzsi, my daughter’s guide dog, also went with us. Thank you for the organization and the wonderful trip. We are looking forward to the meeting in Budapest in October, where we will be able to play with Kappa and Tulipán.”

Thank you to all the participants for a great day. True to tradition, we will hold our next picnic near the capital city in autumn.
