Azúr’s puppies are five weeks old now and they are visibly developing day by day – this is what Sára Kovács, the beloved caregiver of the little ones told us. The puppies are growing more active and curious, and their personalities are steadily developing.
They’re learning to climb stairs
In puppyhood it is not recommended to let them climb stairs for long periods but they can already manage one or two steps. At Sára’s place there are exactly two steps leading to the garden which the puppies have quickly learned to use confidently.
„Not long ago they only dared to go down the stairs with assistance but now they confidently walk up and down” – Sára said. „At first they hesitated to go for food but now they have no trouble with it. They play a lot and their active time is greater than their sleeping time especially wrestling with each other, which is their favorite activity.”
They are very skilled during their care: they tolerate nail trimming well and behave calmly even during mani-pedi sessions. The professional leader of the foundation Piroska Komondi regularly visits them to check that their development is progressing well and that they are growing properly. During these visits she also trims the puppies’ nails.
All four are becoming true little characters
The smallest puppy is the most active: always chewing on everyone while the little girl is becoming increasingly dominant but according to Sára this changes day by day.
“The most social puppy already goes up to the guests, loves people and is extremely teachable, quick, active, and friendly. The little girl is independent, always sleeps with a small donut toy and plays by herself. The firstborn and the last little boy are a bit calmer; they enjoy playing but the two of them rest more.”
The puppies are starting to settle into a daily routine: they wake up around 4:30 in the morning, spend most of the day resting – either in the shade or indoors – and become more active again in the evening and early morning hours. They’re already eating three times a day, and they’re getting better and better at house training, too:
“They know and signal when they need to pee or poop. It’s much easier for me this way and of course it’s more hygienic in this heat” Sára said.
The puppies’ personalities change and develop week by week so we are excited to see what kinds of personalities they will grow into by the time they are ready to move to their foster families.
