Borsó’s puppies turned nine-week-old, and they arrived to an important milestone: they are moving to their puppy raisers. We are summarising Indián’s, Ispán’s, Isler’s and Íbisz’s first period of life, which was full of love, play and development.
The First Days: The Beginning of Four New Lives
Piroska Komondi, our professional leader and Borsó’s handler were presented during the hours of delivery. “This whole period was a great miracle. We were wake with Borsó and it was seen on her that she knows, she did something special” – said Melinda Leidgeb
The first days were spent in the delivery crate, where Borsó were nursing and cleaning her puppies carefully. The little ones mostly slept and ate, whilst growing stronger day by day.
The period of exploration and fast- development
On the first week, the little ones ate and grew well and their main characters appeared as well. “One of them is more pushy, quickly climbs to Borsó, the other one is not in a hurry, he is calmer. The only little girl is fragile, a real princess.”
On the second week they were trying to stand up, bark and took notice on sounds. “They are already responding to music, and whistling, they pick their heads up.”
By the third week, they set off for exploring their surroundings and became more active.
According to Melinda: “At this stage their little feet are sliding here and there, they try to run but sometimes they slide on their bellies. They are in an awkward “floor-crouiser” mode. They are tasting, sniffing, they are really discovering the world and they still sleep a lot.”
Weeks four to six: playing and learning
By now, the puppies have become distinct individuals. “The little girl is a purebred, hysterical and stubborn. The first born is calm and learns quickly. The two middle ones are the most active.”
They have learnt to come when called, they love playing, exploring and sleep in their heated dog house. “They drag and flay the toys, as well as each other’s ears and tails. Their favourites are the rattling toy and the shoes.” – told Melinda
Every new adventure shaped them and they gathered positive experiences. “Sweeping has become a great game for them.”
At the age of six week, they got their first vaccination.
Weeks seven and eight: Preparation of new adventures
The puppies became more independent during this period of time. They are not only playing with each other but with Borsó as well, who happily joined them in the garden.
“Borsó goes to the little ones by herself, who are chasing their mother and play with her.” told Melinda. The puppies eat with a great appetite, they already get solid food, and they are breastfed less and less.
Their feeding is a real show: “They are turning around and around, as a little dancing supper would start.” – said Melinda. Besides splashing their water became a great favourite as well. “The are not only drinking from their bowl, but splashing in it as well.”
Week nine: farewell and new beginnings
The time has come when the puppies move out of the parental home to the puppy raisers. This is how Melinda said goodbye to them:
We are going to miss them; the house will be very quiet without them. They are full of life, and they can give this happiness to us. It was very exciting to see their development as they are going to be service dogs, and they already attached to the people and love them. It can be seen that they were born to be human companions.”
Our thanks to Melinda Leidgeb and Dániel Leidgeb for providing loving home for our breeding dog, and for taking care of Borsó’s first little litter with determination and attention.
Next week we are going to show you where the little ones continue their life.
