It often happens that in our foundation’s breeding program, puppies are not born with their owners, but with our litter-raising volunteers, because we can provide the most ideal conditions for them and the mother dog in this way. This was also the case with Azúr and the „H” litter. The puppies have been raised by our puppy-raising volunteers since then, and Azúr moved back to Sára Kovács, with whom she has lived since she was 9 weeks old. We talked to Sára about this exciting time and, of course, about the reunion.

Azúr was already born in our foundation’s breeding program. When she moved to Sári as a 9-week-old little puppy, no one could have guessed that she would have such a bright career ahead of her. We chose her for the task of becoming the mother of future guide dogs because of her excellent abilities.

– Azúr was very good at her one-year-old behavior test. I soon learned that because of this, the foundation had chosen her for the mission of one day giving birth to the guide dogs of the future,– says Sári. – I couldn’t be more proud of her, especially now that she has completed the first stage of this wonderful task.

Returning home after moving

All of our dogs are raised in a loving family environment from the first moment of their lives. Azúr stayed with her puppy raiser as a breeding female dog until the period before giving birth. As the big day approached, she moved in with one of our litter-raising volunteers, Mónika Füleki, and her daughter, Szofi, so that she could get used to the new environment and of course, enjoy the love of her new family. Sári was present at the birth of the puppies, and even regularly visited the new mother and the puppies.

– Azúr was an excellent mother from the very first moment. She took care of her three babies with endless care, concern, and love. What I was able to experience in these two months was a miracle. Although I visited them regularly, I never stopped missing Azúr. Without her, the apartment and everyday life remained empty. I counted down the days from the moment she moved in, and I was looking forward to her coming home.

The period around the birth of the puppies is all about motherhood and puppies for our breeding female dogs. But as soon as their puppies leave the litter, the previous order in their lives returns. After her return home, Azúr takes center stage again! Sári prepared to welcome her with new toys, her favorite treats, lots of exciting excursions, and since then they have been following their favorite hiking trails.

Azúr was already walking in the forest at 4 months old

– Every time I visited Azúr, I said goodbye to Móni and Szofi with trust and relief, because I saw how much love and attention they showered on their new little family. I am also grateful that we had a team led by Piroska Komondi who was by our side throughout the challenges and difficulties. We could count on them, they answered all our questions, and I knew that Azúr’s three puppies were in the best professional hands.

Azúr is now resting and living a happy life with Sári, filled with fun adventures, and then, when the time comes, she can give birth to puppies again.
