Our community suffered a great loss last week. Vega, our one-year-old dog, has fell asleep forever. Despite our best effort, her life could not be saved. We call the attention of all the dog owners to vaccinate their dogs against infectious diseases,
as in most of the cases, they provide appropriate protection to our pets. Unfortunately, there are cases when the combination of infections makes the dog sick, even the most careful vaccination programme may not be enough, therefore
it is hard for us to accept Vega’s loss.
Vega was a pupil of our guide dog school, she was at the beginning of her training, when she became sick. Meanwhile we desperately searched the way of her treatment involving several veterinarians, we knew that Vega had all the obligatory vaccinations
and even more, as she was prepared for a very important service, yet, despite all that, we got to the point that her life could not be saved. Several veterinarians had tried, even she was admitted to the Veterinary Clinic which is equipped at the highest level, but she
still gone. As it turned out, she got an insurmountable combination of infectious diseases that we could not fight with. There was no reason to torture her with the treatments. Vega was held in the arms of her puppy raiser, who was greatly affected by the loss of the dog.
We do not want to bother anyone about the viruses endangering our dogs, everyone knows or can get information about them. We draw the attention of all dog owners to have their dogs vaccinated against infectious diseases, as in most of the cases they provide appropriate protections to our pets. However, there are unfortunate situations when the combination of infections makes the dog sick, and even the most careful vaccination programme may not be enough. We are grieving now, because of this, so it is hard for accept the loss of Vega.
