The Baráthegyi Team is on holiday

Summer is full of experiences: swimming by the water, making new friends, traveling together. Of course, guide dogs and students don’t miss out on the fun either! Sometimes they discover new places with their owners, sometimes they are on vacation with our volunteers, or they return to their puppy raiser. In our article, we write about how these dog vacations went: their owners and puppy raisers share the most beautiful vacation moments.

Tulipán returns home to her puppy raisers

Three years have passed since the black Tulipán started her studies, and now she has returned home to the Sápi family’s home. They have met several times after her training and adoption, but this time she visited home for several days. “She is the same little kiss-giving spinner as before,” said Andrea, who said the dog immediately felt at home and happily greeted her old roommate, the retired Fidzsi. This shows that the relationship does not break even after puppy raising, and there are opportunities to meet.

Rural retreat on the banks of the river Holt-Körös – Zorka, Juhar, Etna and Zina’s vacation

Zorka, Juhar, Etna and Zina spent August in rural tranquility at the weekend house of Gizella Ménesi’s family.

“This is a real escape for us – swimming, smelling voles, surrounded by the incredibly diverse sounds of nature,” said the owner of our breeding female dog.

On the banks of the Peresi-holtág, squirrels, owls, bats, beavers, otters, fish and turtles also add color to everyday life. The dogs can safely but freely experience the challenges of nature – while their owners spend every minute of the day with them.

Ispán on two wheels – he hit a big tree with his axe at six months old

Norbert Hambuch undertook perhaps the most extraordinary adventure: he embarked on an 8-day, 490-kilometer bike tour in Bavaria with a puppy who was only six months old. “It’s unbelievable that he behaved so grown-up at such a young age,” our puppy raiser said proudly.

Ispán watched from the trailer, sometimes napping, sometimes running a little next to the bicycle. The Germans stopped in amazement when they learnt that the calm little dog was training to be a guide for the blind.

And for the next few weeks, he camped by the Isonzo River, surrounded by eight children.

“At first, the sudden approach of the children caught him by surprise, but by the end, he was a professional,” said Norbert. The campsite became a real classroom: Ispán learnt to deal with the hustle and bustle, and got to know new smells and surroundings.

Dallam is the pearl of the Adriatic

Dallam had a different kind of experience in Croatia. The sea wind, the waves and the hot stones were all new experiences for her. According to her owner, Mercédesz Mezei, Dallam adapted extremely well to various situations. It was not for nothing that she became a personal assistance dog.

Furmint visiting – an everlasting friendship with Kepi

Furmint spent his vacation at one of his friends from Baráthegyi: he was staying at Kepi’s. The two dogs quickly found common ground, and the days were filled with playfulness, running around and naps together. The visit was not only good fun for them, but also a great opportunity for socialization: Furmint was able to try out what it was like to live with another dog and family after the puppy swap, and he proved that he adapts easily to any situation.

Reunion at Lake Balaton – This is why it’s worth raising a puppy

Ágnes Bakonyiné Kunert reunited with her first raised puppy, Akác, and now her owner, Flóra. The evening together in Lake Balaton was filled with swimming, playing and lots of laughter. “There’s such a great harmony between the two of them, they really are great partners,” said Ágnes, who was visibly proud of how happy her raised puppy was with her new companion.

The visit of Zoé and Adria

Not only did Ágnes meet her raised dog, Edina Frank also talks about how good it feels to be together with Adria again. The guide dog has spent several holidays with her, but sometimes it wasn’t her who went “home”, but Edina visited her and Zoé. This day together was made complete by the hospitable family. “The end of the raising does not mean the end of the relationship, often friendship remains,” said Edina.

Hámor’s family visit

Sometimes the dogs literally return to the family: Hámor, for example, is currently on vacation with his mother, Azúr, who welcomed him with love. During the time they spend together, they go on many trips, play, and relax.

We are closing an active summer

It is clear from the summer adventures: these dogs not only relax, but also gain a lot of experience during their travels. Whether it is farm life, a beach holiday or a bike tour through the mountains, each new experience contributes to their becoming calm, flexible partners, living in harmony with people and the environment.
