A Dream Came True: Borsó Gave Life to 4 Puppies

Borsó, one of our foundation’s young mother dogs, gave birth to her first litter. The 4 little miracles—3 boys and a girl—were born on the 14th of January, healthy and strong. Although we didn’t know how many puppies we were expecting based on the ultrasound, Borsó’s owner, Melinda Leidgeb, had a dream the night before that four little ones would be born. And her dream came true.

The excitement of the first few hours

Melinda, who was supporting her dog throughout the whole process, said:

She had already started to settle the night before, and I felt that the moment was approaching. At 1:30 in the morning, she indicated that she wanted me to be with her. Then in the afternoon, she showed that everything was fine and that she would only give birth the next day, so I took her for a long walk. When we got home from the walk, the birthing process started, and the puppies slowly but surely arrived. The first two were breech, which slowed down the process, but Borsó remained strong throughout. At first, she looked at me with big eyes, not understanding what was happening, but little by little she came around and now she takes care of them like an exemplary mother.

The puppies weigh between 480 and 495 grams—real “big babies,” as Melinda put it. Although Borsó was a little hesitant at first, her maternal instincts soon kicked in:

We kept vigil the first night, but Borsó showed pride in her offspring the next day. Now she is with them all the time, cleaning and protecting them.

An adventurer, a little screamer, and the night of wonders

It is already evident how colorful the personalities are in the litter. For example, the little girl is particularly sensitive and loud when something displeases her, while one of the boys is a true adventurer who already loves to explore.

This whole thing was a miracle. We had a vigil with Borso, and it’s clear that she knows she’s done something special. She’s a proud mom, and I’m very proud of her too.

Our professional manager Piroska Komondi   was present at the birth, ensuring that everything was fine. We will keep you updated on the progress of the puppies. For the latest content, it is worth following our Facebook and YouTube channels.
