Our guide dog has fully recovered after spinal surgery and is once again guiding her visually impaired owner. While Dolly was recovering, Írisz walked with a white cane, though she had some trouble using it. Now the feeling has returned that they walk together as if Írisz can see, because Dolly avoids everything and takes care of her.
Dolly is already leading her owner
Dolly is doing very well. She is lively, happy, and actively attending physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Her three-month rehabilitation is now coming to an end. Even then, she wanted to go with her owner, Írisz Kobliné Sáfrány, when it wasn’t possible, and since they can travel together again, she wants to prove one hundred percent that her place is by her side.
Dolly’s back after the surgery
Two weeks ago, before we were about to leave, I placed the harness by the door and was packing something else, but she didn’t give me a chance to do that. Instead, she immediately grabbed the harness and swung it into my hand, as if to say, ‘Let’s go!’ Dolly had always paid attention to everything, but now she’s even more thorough than thorough, as if trying to prove, ‘Yes, I know, I know, I belong next to you because I know everything.
Our dog’s wound has healed
Dolly has a desire to prove herself, but I don’t mind that. I can feel in her movements that she is happy, wagging her tail. She wants to be by my side from head to toe. Before she could come with me, I would find every hole, pit, and gutter. I even thought to myself how great it is to walk with a dog, because I don’t even know what she’s avoiding—I just go with her as if I could see. I missed this feeling when I was using a white cane. Now, the feeling has returned that we walk together as if I can see, because I know she is watching over me.
The duo is ready for a challenge
We’ve previously written about Dolly when she was still recovering from surgery.
